"He was an ordinary hero/Just the regular kind.."
In 2002 and early 2003, I spent more than 1,000 hours recording, mixing and mastering my album, "Ordinary Hero". It's either a labor of love or the product of obsession - I'll leave it to you to decide which.
If you like what you hear, you can buy a copy of the physical CD from me for $12.50, plus shipping and handling costs (and sales tax, if you live in California), or you can download it, instead, for a mere five bucks.
If you buy the full album, in addition to the standard CD audio that's compatible with ordinary CD players, you get CDExtra! digital content that includes lyrics, alternate mixes, photos and other cool stuff you can access from your computer's CDROM drive.
If you choose to download the album, instead, you'll get instructions on how to convert the MP3s to CD audio, so you can burn a disc that's compatible with regular CD players, plus you can download and print out the album and label art. And you save an appreciable amount of money in the process.
Why am I offering both? Because, contrary to what you may have heard, MP3s are NOT perfect copies of the original audio tracks. They're compressed, so you lose some audio fidelity in the process. Not much - way less than, say, an audiocassette copy - but some. So real audiophiles will want to buy the physical disc. On the other hand, if you buy the downloadable version, you're doing all the actual work of manufacturing the disc, so my costs are a lot lower - and I pass the savings on to you.
I've always liked the shareware philosophy of "try before you buy", so you have my permission to download and listen to the individual tracks a couple of times, just to be sure "Ordinary Hero" is something you want to add to your collection. If you like what you hear, buy the album. My wife, my dog and I will all appreciate it.
